DESERT DATA EXTRACTS

Brown

There are a million colours in this desert, and

a thousand more in the next.

There are five colours in this one rock,

and four in that.

They talk of starkness when they talk of the desert.

But all I see is rainbows.

handfuls of sand run through my fingers

I wonder if

in this sand dune

there are enough grains

to line up the woes of the world

one by one

I wonder if

in this sand dune

there are grains enough

to line up the grace of this world

handful by glorious handful

By wind and sun and time made

this one pile of sand

the world

Have you ever kissed a rock?

I mean really kissed

Spent time

Reached in tenderly

Grasped on passionately

It’s kind of rough against the lips

Like a beard but not

I don’t think these rocks have ever been kissed before

I think they like it
